Amazon Is Starting Black Friday Early This Year!
Amazon is starting its Black Friday deals a week early this year. You’ll know that Black Friday is the day following Thanksgiving Day in the US. Thanksgiving Day is always the fourth Thursday in November and it’s a big celebration. Traditionally, retailers open early and slash prices. For the last few years, the concept of Black Friday has been marketed to UK shoppers who now recognise it as the time to bag a bargain.
What is Black Friday?
Since the 1950’s Black Friday has been considered the start of the Christmas shopping season in the US. Traditionally, retailers open early and slash prices. For the last few years, the concept of Black Friday has been marketed to UK shoppers who now recognise it as the time to bag a bargain.
So, you may remember seeing news stories about huge crowds fighting over goods in stores on Black Friday. Of course, this doesn’t happen online – although many deals are timed or only have limited availability. It’s a good idea to plan exactly what you want in advance of Black Friday and if you see that deal, grab it while you can.
Amazon has daily deals, timed deals and deals with early access for Prime members. They usually have good savings on their own range of products including Kindle and Alexa.
Amazon’s Christmas Toy Predictions 2017
Everyone has been waiting to see what’s on the Amazon Top Toys Christmas 2017 list. As reported in Toy World Magazine on 28/9/17, the biggest online retailer has a mix of traditional and technological presents on this year’s list. It’s likely these toys will feature in Black Friday toy deals but you need to be quick as often these are limited offers. Remember Cyber Monday too. Amazon usually has toy offers for the entire week but jump in as soon as you see what you want as Black Friday toy deals don’t stick around for long.
To get Black Friday Toy Deals, you need to be prepared
Take note of the toys your children are talking about as the year goes on. You may be surprised how early some people start planning Christmas presents. However, the rise of social media means the top trends can come and go very quickly. You don’t want to buy something they desperately want in June and find it’s ‘out’ by December. This is especially true of the toy crazes.
Shop around for the Black Friday toy offers
Everyone likes a bargain but clever marketing means they are getting harder to find. Prices do go up and down so you need to keep an eye on toy offers from the major retailers. Signing up for deals is a good idea although you will find your inbox is flooded with offers which may or may not be any good. Most websites have a dedicated page for offers. Here’s Amazon’s Today’s Offers in Toys and Games. Also look at the sales pages on websites although note the ‘must have’ toys will probably not feature there.
Check social media for Black Friday offers
We’ll be posting all the best Black Friday deals from Amazon on our Facebook page. Follow us using our social media links above right, to get everything you need direct to your timeline. I used to look for discount codes on the internet and often I’d be lucky. However, these searches now rarely find you offers unless you want to sign up to one of the large discount sites. Even when you do think you’ve found something, it’s often out of date and a bit of a time-waster. I’m finding that social media is far more immediate but you have to be quick. Toy offers on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram don’t hang around for long.
Buy Now And Return Later
Shrewd shoppers check the returns policy very carefully when they buy goods. Some products – including the ‘must have’ toys – can sell out very quickly so you could buy now at a good to fair price and then wait to see if better deals come up later on.
The ‘Must Have’ toys this Christmas
The biggest and best-know toy retailers predict the top toys for Xmas 2017. These are likely to be the best-selling toys that are most in demand – the ‘must have’ toys for Christmas. See also Dream Toys 2017, announced on 8 November 2017.
We are monitoring the lists from the most famous names in toy retail. So far Amazon, Tesco, John Lewis, Hamleys, Harrods, Smyths and Argos have all made their predictions. Most of these lists come out between the time when the schools go back in September and Halloween. This year, they were all out by mid-October although Argos released their list at the exact mid-point of 2017.
Below are the toys that appear most frequently on the lists. Some are new brands, some are updated or new releases from well-known brands. Lego always features on most Christmas Lists, for example. There’s some toys that are pick-ups from TV shows. Robots also feature well, as you would expect given the rise of interest in STEAM Toys. This category was included for the first time this year in the Best New Toys 2017.
