World Book Day

World Book Day is a celebration of authors, illustrators, books and reading.

Children's books

It is a small, registered charity. It is financed by  contributing publishers, the generous sponsorship of National Book Tokens Ltd, some literacy partnerships and other supporters, as well as the participating booksellers who fund the entire cost of the Book Token redemption.

Schools join in by arranging dressing up days where children attend in an outfit inspired by a book character. Popular characters involve Roald Dahl characters such as Charlie Bucket, Matilda, Willy Wonka and, of course, the Oompa Loompas, David Walliams characters such as Bad Dad and Gangsta Granny.
