Cozmo Is A Must Have Toy 2017
THIS IS AN OLD POST – CLICK TO SEE THE LATEST STEM TOYS
If you’ve been following the Christmas toy predictions from the big retailers, you’ll be very familiar with Cozmo. This little robot features on four of the big lists announced so far: Amazon, Harrods, John Lewis and Smyths. We also have it on our Christmas list. It was one of the top three toys selected on How To Spend It Well At Christmas on ITV1 recently.
Cozmo Is One Of The Most Sophisticated Robots You Can Buy
Cozmo, from Anki, is one of the most sophisticated consumer robots available today. He’s a real-life robot with a unique personality that develops the more you spend time with him. He’ll nudge you to get playing and keep you constantly surprised.
Thanks to artificial intelligence, Cozmo can express hundreds of emotions. He knows your name, face and quirks. Use the Cozmo Software Developers Kit (SDK) to program new things. Whether lifting his Power Cubes or challenging you to games like Quick Tap and Keep away, he’s always up for action. And in Explorer Mode, Cozmo lets you guide him through his environment to see what he sees – day or night.
Cozmo’s skills and games are constantly updating, so the fun never runs out. He is tougher than he looks. Safety and data security have been rigorously tested. With no parts to put together, he’s ready to go right out of the box.
Requires a compatible iOS or Android device and the free Cozmo app. Cozmo box includes: 1 Cozmo robot 1 charger 3 interactive Power Cubes.
Artificial intelligence and kids
According to an article I was reading in New Scientist (published 21/2/17 and sourced 6/10/17) children’s behaviour can be influenced by the personality of a robot companion. They go on to say that ‘…playing with an enthusiastic or attentive robot, for instance, made them engage more and work harder’. The findings came from a series of experiments that researchers conducted with a companion robot.
This is not a cheap toy but it would make a very impressive Christmas present for a child who is into robotics. I think it might be one the dads love too!
